Cancelled

It's been a busy week! Nate and I headed to JFK last Friday for our flight to Utah! woohoo! We were pretty excited to have a little vacation home. It took about 3 hours to actually get to the airport, traffic was awful. We made it and checked in only to find that our flight to SLC was CANCELLED. We had a little bit of a panic moment. Nate's sister, Emily, was getting married the next day and we were supposed to be to the temple by 9:30 am.

We went and got in line at the "Just Ask" station, they make it sound so easy. The line hadn't moved at all. I started talking to the people around us to see where they were traveling and how fast they needed to be places. One man had been on hold with Jet Blue for a whole hour and finally was speaking with an agent, when he was finished he handed Nate the phone! It was so nice. The agent talked with us and basically told us it was impossible to get to Salt Lake by that time... so we resorted to Vegas! The flight was leaving at 11. Nate and I hurried to go look at the flights and saw that there was a flight leaving a little earlier to Vegas so we luckily made it on that flight standby.

After sitting on the plane for almost an hour, it still hadn't moved. The captain came over the loud speaker with bad news. He had flown his quota of hours and was informed that he had to get a new crew on the plane for the flight to proceed. The clock was ticking and we didn't know if we were going to be able to make it home in time. A few minutes later the pilot got word that he could travel on to Vegas! He hurried and shut the main cabin door and headed for the runway. Thank heavens.

It was probably pretty entertaining to watch us try and sleep on the plane. Nate said my head was bobbing all over. needless to say we didn't get any rest on the plane. When we made it to Vegas it was 1:30 am and we had  a little miracle. My brother in law, Matt, is from Las Vegas. His dad and sister met us at the airport and gave us a car to drive to get to the wedding, SO kind. It saved us so much time. We jumped in the car to find snacks and Mt. Dew, which we needed desperately. We made the drive in REALLY good time. Nate had a led foot on the way home. We even had time to shower before the temple!

We were so worried when our flight was cancelled but there were so many little tender mercies that helped us get home. We are so grateful to everyone who helped us along the way. We made it through the whole wedding day with no sleep, it was a beautiful day.

At the Reception.. starting to get a little sleepy

So happy all these girls are my sisters!
