PepsiCo

I decided its about time for me, Nate, to contribute to the Dennis Duo.  This my first blog post so bare with me.

Since working at PepsiCo I've learned a great deal about the company.  Its no small company.  It has over 22 billion dollar brands.  It been very successful and is always looking for new ways to innovate and provide better, healthier products for society.

I work at PepsiCo's world Headquarters in Purchase New York.  Its barely across the lower left corner of Connecticut.  My role in the company is to make sure everyone's computer is working properly.  I am part of the Desktop Support Team.  The position is very similar to my position at BYU where I am doing computer support for the Marriott School.  Luckily my skills have carried over making my internship easier.  Yes I do get unlimited amounts of Pepsi.  They have fountain drinks on each floor.  Unfortunately my wife tells me I can't drink it or else I'll get fat.  (She has a valid point).

PepsiCo's internship program is very well organized. I have been impressed with how they manage their interns and keep the internship fun and exciting.  I've had the opportunity to meet the CEO, tour the Research and Development Plant, and play on Citi Field.  In a few weeks I have the privilege of touring a Frito Lays plant.

At the R&D plant I was able to taste test some of Pepsi's new products.  I am unable to tell you about some of their products.  They told us not to disclose any of the flavors and new products.  However, I will tell you about two products.  The first was a Mountain Dew that smells exactly like beer.  And according to the other interns, who have tasted beer, they say it tastes very similar.  That will come out later this year.  But you might want to keep it on the DL.  The second product which probably won't ever be produced is called "Dew-ito."  Yes its a mix of a Dorito and Mt. Dew.  It was the most amazing/bizarre taste I've ever experienced.  If you could take a Dorito and make it into a liquid form, this is exactly how it smelt AND tasted.  It was so weird. I can't even describe how weird and how real it tasted!  It wasn't good, but it was good in the sense that it tasted exactly like a Dorito but in liquid form.

Last week I had the opportunity to go to Citi Field the home of the New York Mets and play softball on the actual field.  All the interns at Pepsi this summer came with their managers and we played a couple games of softball.  It was awesome!  The only not so awesome part was that I missed two unbelievably easy catches because I was using a right hander's mitt upside down.  It was pretty embarrassing.  Fortunately, my team became the new Pepsico Intern Softball Champs!

Well, that is my update on my internship here at PepsiCo.  Its coming to a close and before I know it I'll be back in school.
